Creativity has always been a through-thread.
Creativity has always been a passionate through-thread in my life.
It’s felt like a constant I could depend on…for grounding and expanding thoughts and feelings, and sometimes simply for the pure joy of being in the creative process.
Throughout my life, I’ve followed that spark wherever it wanted to grow, tinkering with different forms and discovering something different through each one. Though three creative forms really captivated and taught me so much.
Percussion/music taught me to listen.
Photography taught me to see.
Ink and graphite taught me to trust.
And lately, painting has been bringing all of those lessons together for me.
LISTEN
Music
Drums became one of my earliest serious creative practices.
Over nearly twenty years, they taught me consistency, humility, and, perhaps most importantly, how to listen.
Much of that time was spent playing in worship and spiritually oriented bands. I loved the live dynamic of creating something together—listening for what wanted to emerge in the moment and becoming a driving force in support of it.
There was something humbling and beautiful about learning that creation wasn’t always about deciding what should happen.
Recently, I’ve learned that so much more beauty gets to emerge when we listen to what wants to emerge. It transcends the mind.

Photography taught me perspective, composition, curiosity, and persistence.
One of my teachers would regularly tell us:
“Look until you see.”
That phrase stayed with me far beyond photography.
I became fascinated by how the simplest things could interact with light, space, texture, and everything around them to become something unexpectedly beautiful.
Often, nothing needed to change.
We simply had to slow down enough to really see, and with curiosity change our perspective until we saw it.
Over the years, my photography received recognition through multiple competitions, but what stayed with me most was the practice itself: becoming curious enough to notice what I might otherwise walk past.
TRUST

After a season of pouring much of my creative energy into entrepreneurship, I eventually found myself returning to making things with my hands.
I started drawing again through intricate ink and graphite work.
What began almost like doodling became a meditative practice that has now stayed with me for years.
Unlike photography, where I could move around until I found the composition, ink asked something different of me.
Once a line was there, it was there.
There was no undo button or another shot I could take.
The practice taught me to trust myself. To accept what had already been made, to trust what would come, and allow unexpected turns to become part of the work rather than mistakes that needed to be corrected.
Over time, I became increasingly curious about what might happen if this detailed visual language met something looser.
Something larger.
Something with color.

HONOR
What I’m Exploring Now

Outside of my roles in business and tech, painting is currently the part of the visual art adventure that excites me most.
I had always loved painting, but for some reason didn't fully allow myself to explore that love until 2026.
My original idea was to create paintings that would become the foundation for my detailed ink and graphite work.
And then something unexpected happened.

The color, movement, composition, and simplicity began to feel complete on their own.
I found myself facing the same invitation my other creative practices had been teaching me all along:
Listen. See. Trust.
Rather than forcing my original idea onto the paintings, I wanted to honor what they had become and let them stand on their own.
And that’s where I am now.
Exploring paint. Following curiosity. Learning what this new medium wants to teach me.

Create Something Together
I’m at the beginning of this chapter of my painting practice, and I’m excited to see where it grows.

My current work is primarily created at 24 × 36 inches, with opportunities to explore paint on its own or more detailed mixed-media work incorporating ink and graphite.
